Year 4 Mathematics: KES Competition success

This afternoon, a group of four Year 4 mathematicians represented the school brilliantly at Heat 6 of a mathematics competition held at King Edward’s School. 12 schools were assembled to pick their  way through a series of mathematical challenges. In the first round, the children had to work as a team to answer a tricky crossnumber puzzle – a fabulous score of 47/51 was achieved. The second round involved lots of sprinting as well as thinking in a relay to solve maths puzzles.

Overall, Bournville Junior School finished 2nd, a tiny fraction behind St Alphege’s Junior School in Solihull.

Well done, children!

The silver medallists.

First to solve the very tricky 3D puzzle in the warm-up.

Finding lots of ways!

Thank you. The teachers from St. Michaels’ CE Primary who were based with the BJS team commented afterwards on how impressed they were with the children’s superb teamwork and their respect for each other.
