PSHE at Bournville Junior School
It is our aim at Bournville Junior School to develop our children as individuals in our school, and in the wider community. PSHE is delivered through our curriculum in a variety of ways and though three core themes:
Health and Wellbeing
Through science topics, The Life Education Bus and PSHE lessons, children learn to build up a healthy and safer lifestyle.
During Circle Time, The Life Education Bus, PSHE and Religious Education lessons, children learn about themselves as individuals, developing confidence and an understanding of their own characters, their strengths and their weaknesses. They also learn to develop respectful and caring relationships with others from a range of cultures and religions whilst respecting people’s differences.
Living in the Wider World
Through the School Council, School House System and PSHE lessons children learn to: make responsible use of their talents, rights and opportunities, begin to develop as and prepare to become responsible citizens, develop an understanding of how to achieve economic well-being, carry out responsibilities as active citizens in school and the community and understand the importance of being responsible for our environment.
These three core themes underpin our curriculum and are supported by the opportunities presented in assemblies, by visits and visitors, through appropriate use of resources, links with the local community and the ethos of our school.
